4 Tips for Traveling with toddlers

These are things that have worked for me when flying with toddler girl.  I hope that new moms and dads can use these tips to make their first trip traveling with baby or toddler go smooth.  Each kid is different, so some may work great and others may not work best for your family needs.  Please make sure to share your tips in the comment section.  It is always a learning experience when traveling with little ones.

Toddler girl always has her backpack or purse with her.  No matter how long or short a trip it is, her toddler size backpack always comes in hand.

  1. Lots of snacks. Having toddler girl’s favorite snacks, make it easy to calm her if she gets fussy.
  2. Entertainment.  We don’t leave home without the iPad mini and DS when traveling.  I also like to bring her favorite toy, Barbie, or baby doll. It’s also good to pack some other activities like coloring book, colors, and blank paper for drawing/writing.
  3. Change of clothes.  Even though she is potty train, accidents can happen.  It’s better to be prepared, then not have an extra change of clothes on a long flight or train ride.
  4. Fly at nap time or bedtime.  Living in Japan, many of our flights are usually evening flights when we flight to the USA.  Toddler girl will sleep most of the flight and we also get a little sleep too. If you can book a evening flight, go for it!
