Today’s artist spotlight is R&B singer Paul Straun rising from Upstate New York area, also know as the 845. Paul sent me a Soundcloud link to his song Let Me Get It and now I have been listening to his Soundcloud for most of the day. Some songs I’ve listen to a few times.
When an artist sends me a Soundcloud link to their latest song, it of course leads me to listening to all their songs. I like to see what their style is. Paul’s sound is R&B, but it has a little taste of Hip Hop with mix in his sound. He has this je ne sais quoi. His song Let Me Get It, produced by Ezekiel Williams from The Sparq Setter z is a great example of R&B and HipHop. This song makes you want to get up and dance like a club banger, but it’s R&B. That’s what makes great music. When you don’t want to label the genre of the song because it is purely just music. It’s music for the soul, the mind, and it is body moving music.
Then I listen to Dreams & Money featuring Skibo Deebo and again it’s what Paul Straun has hashtagged #ExperimentalHipHopRB. You get both the R&B and Hip Hop vibe. I see how he calls his album Trap Singer. It’s the perfect title for the album!! You need to have these songs in your playlist for working out, relaxing, or to play when you getting ready to hit go out and turn up. Hell, you can play his music and turn up at home.
Being a girl who grew up in Louisiana, I have always had a place in my heart for some chopped and screwed. #DirtySouth Make sure to check out the following songs, that have been chopped and screwed for your listening pleasure: For Them Benjys, 845, and Impression.
