Are you ready for The Story? Olaide Banks is telling his story on The Story EP. Each song is inspired by different journeys throughout his life including key scriptures to read that connect with each track. I reviewed his hit single “Story of My Life” a while back on the blog, if you missed it you can read it here.

Olaide Banks' being from the Caribbean brings us an amazing Christian reggae song "I'm Blessed" on The Story EP. This song is a reminder that blessings come in many forms and sometimes a bad day can also be a blessing.

Let’s jump right into my thoughts on The Story EP.  Even though I’ve reviewed “Story of My Life” it has to be mention again. This is a song you to listen to after a long day. Olaide wrote this song in 2017 after Hurrican Harvey hit Houston and Hurricanes Irma and Maria hit the Caribbean. This is him expressing his emotions of loss, helplessness, hopefulness, courage, and inspiration. When you listen to “Story of My Life”, you feel it and connect with it. There is also an acoustic version of this song on the EP as well. That version is more powerful than the original! The key scripture to read is Proverbs 16:9.

A song with a message will always stand out. This song does just that! Always remember that God has a plan for you. God knows your heart and even though sometimes it seems like not going the way you want, underneath it all – it is. That is the key message in “God Has A Plan”. Keep the faith and watch God work. Key scripture to read is Jeremiah 29:11.

Banks’ being from the Caribbean brings us an amazing Christian reggae song “I’m Blessed”. All I could think of when listening to this always remember that you are blessed. Blessings come in many forms and sometimes a bad day can also be a blessing. This song is just the reminder with an amazing beat to go along with it.  Key scripture to read, Genesis 32:22-31.

When “The Only Thing” started playing the beat made me think how this EP is made for all music tastes. You get not only Christian and reggae, but this beat gives me a country and a blues vibe. The one thing I can say there is a song for everyone on The Story. “The Only Thing” is a great collaboration featuring Kaiheem Richardson. Key scriptures to read are 1 John 4:1 and Zechariah 1:3.

“One Worship”  is a praise song you want to close your eyes and listen to. You feel it deep in your soul. You will reflect, feel, maybe even cry when you let this song into your spirit. When someone says church service was so good you could feel it, “One Worship” is that song that gives you that same feeling. When you need that moment with God and not sure how to start, just listen to this song and all that you want to say will flow out. You can listen to the song below and when you do, close your eyes. Let me know in the comments how this song touched your heart and soul.

“Blessed Assurance” is a song we have all heard before, but Olaide Banks rendition is beautifully done. Key scripture to read is Deuteronomy 10:21.

I thank God for His Love and Grace. I also thank God for the inspiration to record these songs and for sending the right people to this bring this to fruition.  -Olaide Banks

Olaide’s vocals are outstanding on each song. My favorite songs “Story of My Life” (both versions) and “Blessed Assurance”. Each song on The Story will have you hitting replay. Don’t think this is just church music – no, this is clean your house, work out, relaxing music. You’ll want to add these to your playlist.

About Olaide Banks

Olaide Banks' being from the Caribbean island of Anguilla brings us an amazing Christian reggae song Olaide Banks was born and raised on the Caribbean island of Anguilla. At age 6 he began signing in choirs and talent showcases. As a teenager, he moved to Houston to attend college and he established roots in Houston’s community as a legal advocate, volunteer, and Christian servant, while maintaining a firm connection to his home and culture in the Caribbean.

Banks is uniquely anointed to usher in the presence of the Holy Spirit in Worship and has been involved in Christian ministry for almost 20 years as a teacher and worship leader. He puts his ministry passion into action as a practicing attorney fighting for the rights of those forgotten in Houston including the homeless and elderly.

The six-foot-three-inch Banks’ smile and soft-spoken humility, belie the unbridled passion and sincerity that comes through every time he strides to the microphone, guitar in hand, to minister in Worship.

He has a unique sound has been dubbed, by legendary Caribbean deejay Dave Douglas, as “Caribbean Fresh Gospel.” His distinctive baritone, and the subtle Caribbean and African influences in his songs, hint at his origins. Yet the authenticity of his lyrics and musical delivery transcend the boundaries of denomination and nationality.

With the release of his EP “The Story” in October 2018 and the full album “One Worship” in Summer 2019, Banks hopes to unite The Church as Christ described in John 4:24 –  to worship in Spirit and in Truth.

Banks is the son of reggae music pioneer Bankie Banx and the brother of former West Indies cricketer, turned international reggae artist, Omari Banks. Olaide is a member of the Fellowship Houston Worship family.
