While in Osaka, Japan for our family trip, Osaka Castle was another place that we wanted to visit. Access to the castle, was very easy, via train on the JR Loop Line from Osaka Station to the Osakajokoen Station. You will see signs to follow to get to the Main Tower of the Castle. The Castle is 8 floors, the 6th floor is closed to visitors and photographs are not allowed on the 4th and 5th floor.

When we entered the castle, we waited a few minutes and rode up the elevator to the 5th floor.  The elevator is used to get visitors up to the 5th floor; from there you must use the stairs to go up or down. Once off, we walked and looked at the different displays, which were scenes from “The Summer War in Osaka” folding screen.  From there we climbed the stairs to the 7th and 8th floor.  The 7th floor displayed the life of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, while the 8th floor was a 360 view observation deck.  It was great views of the city! There is also a small museum shop on the 8th floor.

We made our way back down the stairs to the 4th and 3rd floors, which had artifacts, records of Hideyoshi Toyotomi and his era (Sengoku era). The 2nd floor displayed facts about Osaka Castle, replicas of shachi, fusetora, history of the castle, and restrooms.

Finally, back down to the 1st floor, there is a movie theater and a museum shop. Walking from the train station to the castle, it was nice to walk in that part of history.  The grounds are beautiful. And would love to go back during cherry blossom season, it would be amazing to see.
