Over the past couple of weeks I have been to the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine twice. It is time I post about my adventure. The shrine is located in Kamakura, Kanagawa, Japan. It is only a short walk from the Kamakura train station. The main street leading up to the Shrine is lined with cherry blossoms which are starting to bloom now. It is beautiful!
Today there was a wedding taking place and it is Spring Break for the schools, which made it crowded for a weekday. Once you reach the first Tori Gate to start walking to the shrine, you have a small bridge with koi below swimming. The gravel pathway has food booths with candy and other yummy treats. Once you have pass all the booths you will reach the stairs leading up to the shrine. The grounds of the shrine are also beautiful and the Kamakura Museum is also located here.
The treat I had today was a candied strawberry on a cracker. It was very tasty. My little one had a candied grape. This is a favorite for both of us.
You can also buy a ”stamp book”. The book is stamped at time of purchase and when one goes to a temple, for a small fee of about 300 yen it will stamped for you.
