Avoiding stress is hard for an adult as it’s easily brought on by the things in our lives. First, you need to let them know that they can talk to you about anything. If something happens that upsets them, they need to be able to come to you. Things like this can often cause quite a lot of stress in kids as they don’t understand why they don’t feel normal. Sit down with them and talk it out between the two of you. Let your child tell you how they are feeling, what’s been going on, and so on, and then you can help them to make as much sense of it as possible.
Remember to remain calm no matter what they say, if you react in a negative way, or even what they perceive as a negative way, they won’t tell you in the future.
Keep Them Out of Adult Problems
It is essential that you are keeping them out of adult problems. Your kids are not weapons and they should not be told about the ongoing affairs of adults. For example, if you are getting divorced or separating from your partner and you have now hired a child custody lawyer, this does not mean either parent can badmouth the other one. This upsets the children more often than not and causes them a lot of stress. They don’t need to know what is going on, other than that you two are no longer together.
Ensure They Have a Hobby
You should always ensure that your child has a hobby to let out any feelings that they are holding inside. For example, some kids love to draw, some kids love sports, and some kids like to build things. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it helps them to feel happy in life.
