It’s been almost a year since moving back to my home state and Charmingly CJ not taking dance classes anymore. She wasn’t ready to start a new dance school when we moved. But, a great opportunity came to ease her back into dance – Funky Divas and Dudes virtual dance camp. Dance camp right in the comfort of her own home. Plus, with COVID-19, it was a great way safely to interact with kids.

She began taking ballet when she was two while we lived in Japan. Once we moved back to the United States, she also started taking gymnastics and jazz. This would be her first time taking a class geared towards pop dance moves and she LOVED it! This was just the boost of confidence she needed to start taking dance classes locally when schools are able to open back up.

This week-long virtual dance camp, had her learning dance moves, playing games, interacting with kids around the country of the same age group, and simply having fun. Miss Britney, the dance teacher was amazing with the kids and teaching them a dance routine to do a recital and talent at the end of camp on Friday.

What do the kids do in class?

The kids learn part of the dance routines each day for Friday’s show. Each day is themed, the kids are encouraged to dress up in costumes. Don’t worry, no need to spend extra money on costumes, there are themes like Hawaiian day, where the kids can wear something with a tropical print that they have in the closet already.  There is also a break for kids to grab a snack. On Friday, the show is recorded and later emailed to you.

What age is it for? The sessions are geared toward kids ages 4-11.

What is the length of the class? The class is one week (Monday to Friday). Class is 3 hours each day.
