As author and poet Victoria Erickson points out, camping can truly be the next great adventure.

”I just want to live in a world of mountains, coffee, campfires, cabins, and golden trees, and run around with a camera and notebook, learning the inner workings of everything real.”

You may not want to take a notebook on your camping holiday, but truth be told, it is still going to be a time for self-introspection and reconnecting with yourself and the world around you. Perhaps, that is precisely what makes camping so appealing.

Of course, there’s a lot more than meets the eye. Essentially, when you are planning a family break, camping is likely to be the most affordable option. You could simply pack your SUV with best camping tent options and you’ll be ready to take on a new outdoor challenge without breaking the bank.

But there’s something more about camping. Unlike many other summer breaks, camping can truly help you relax at a deeper level. Here are the many ways in which a camping adventure could unlock your inner glow.

Reconnect with nature

We live fast-paced lives with no time to rest. As such, the simple pleasure of spending time in nature can get overlooked in day-to-day life. But, once you escape the turmoil of cities and embark on a camping holiday, you can finally immerse yourself in the great outdoors.

Plant your tent in a cozy and quiet spot, so the sun and the bird songs can wake you up in the morning. Waking up to the sounds and smells of nature can already do a lot for your nervous system. It is a fantastic way to gradually find your lost inner peace

Another important aspect of spending time in nature is vitamin D. Did you know that most people don’t spend enough time outdoors. As such, their body can’t produce sufficient vitamin D. This can affect your mood, making you less resilient to stress and urban life pace.

Playful moments with your loved ones

Camping holidays are tailor-made for bonding with loved ones, especially kids. So don’t hesitate to engage in outdoor games, build sandcastles together at the beach, embark on a scavenger hunt in the woods, in short rekindle the childlike wonder within you. Playful dates with children do a lot more than just strengthening your bond.

They help you reconnect with your inner child and feel more youthful. It’s time to shake off the coat of responsibilities, stress, and adulthood you are forced to wear in day-to-day life and become a happy and stress-free child again. As you play, your body naturally releases endorphins, which will make you feel happier and more relaxed. And dare we say that it shows too?

Banish urban sounds

It doesn’t matter how stress-free your work or financial situation is. The truth is that living in a city brings a natural level of stress, regardless of your lifestyle. From traffic jams to the constant hum of urban noises, a camping holiday will offer a refreshing escape from city chaos.

Did you know that research shows that spending time in loud environments can increase your heart rate and blood pressure? It makes sense why spending time in nature can have the opposite effect! While this isn’t to say that nature is silent, on the contrary, the sounds of nature are comparatively quieter. Traffic noises typically range from 70 to 80 decibels on highways to 50 to 60 decibels in town. But while constant exposure to this level of sound may not affect your hearing, it can affect your stress levels.

Nature doesn’t have the same constancy in terms of sounds. Bird songs last only for a few moments. Even if you camp by the water, the sound is unlikely to reach beyond 40 decibels, and it is a much more peaceful environment.

Embrace the fresh and clear air

The air you breathe plays a pivotal role in your overall health and glow, impacting on your skin. City air carries pollutants that can clog your pores and accelerate aging. From car fumes to industrial emissions, urban air is unclean.

On the contrary, thye crisp, untainted air of a camping destination offers some much-needed respite for your skin. Oxygen-rich air enhances blood circulation, which allows vital nutrients to reach the skin’s surface. Your skin grows and repairs itself faster in nature than it does in the city. Additionally, exposure to pollutants can also lead to oxidative stress, which can make your complexion appear dull and bloated. On the other hand, when you relax on a camping break in the fresh air, your complexion heals and can find its natural glow again.

Naturally, a summer camping holiday doesn’t erase wrinkles or gray hair. But it can certainly give your skin the glow that was robbed from you in the city!
