This morning is a multi-tasking kind of morning. While I’m doing a number of things, I have The Ghost and the Darkness by Bernard Kyng and Andre Hando playing. The album is only 7 songs, but that just shows they only want to give the best versus have 10 or 12 songs and some are not to their full potential.

A reason this album is good for multi-tasking is that it has this mellow, chill vibe. It makes you want to keep working, but with good energy flowing and good tunes playing. It’s not one that makes you want to jump out of your seat and dance and end up not getting anything done. It’s refreshing compared to some of the hip-hop music that is just a mess.

The duo both showcase their talents and don’t overshadow the other. My favorite song off the album is “Official Grind”. This song is about getting the job done, walk through open doors, etc. When you listen to it, you will see why I say this album is good for multi-tasking. Because they are rapping about being on the grind. You can check out the video below.

The one song I’m not feeling “Life’s a Beach”. The chorus could be better. Maybe have a singer with a different octave sing it. That’s just my two cents. Overall, it’s a good album and you should definitely give it a listen. You will even find a song or two that you should add to your playlist.

About Bernard Kyng & Andre Hando

Two lions ravage a small village fighting for their way of life as human greed encroaches upon their existence. When commercialism encroaches upon genuine artistic expression, the result is The Ghost and the Darkness, a refreshing seven-song LP by Bernard Kyng and Andre Hando who feel placed in a similar situation to those Tsavo lions featured in the 1996 film with the same name. These independent artists and their distinct journeys merge together in this collaborative project to display what hip-hop was, is, and can be.

The evolution of the craft, not just the monetization of the sound. This album is sure to capture attention with its witty wordplay and genre-defining qualities. As great as they are in the studio, the pair is even better on a live stage. Be on the lookout for “The Planet Love Tour,” which will accompany the album release.
