The Gary Douglas Band has announced the long-awaited release of their hugely anticipated new album. Deep in the Water arrives at all music retailers and streaming services on October 15th.

My favorite songs on the album are “Million Miles Away” and “Deep In The Water”. “Million Miles Away” is a nice song for relaxing and singing along to.  “Deep In The Water” has this classic sound to it, but still modern. Gary Douglas’ voice shines in this song. This is a song that my parents would also enjoy. It’s timeless and appeals to people of all ages. This is an outstanding album. Deep in the Water needs to be in everyone’s music collection.

Produced and mixed by Niko Bolas (Neil Young, Warren Zevon) and co-produced by chart-topping songwriter/producer Darrell Brown (Keith Urban, Radney Foster), DEEP IN THE WATER sees Douglas backed by an all-star lineup of friends and fans that includes Southside Johnny, and Jeff Kazee (keyboardist for Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes), The Mavericks’ Raul Malo and Paul Deakin, guitarist Josh Leo, Nicholas Biello on saxophone, The Jayhawks’ Jennifer Gunderman, and a host of Nashville’s finest session players. Gary Douglas grew up in the streets of Brooklyn with a life soundtracked by Americana, Blues, and Country: a mix of music that counters highly polished mainstream music. There’s a certain realness that comes with this kind of music. Life isn’t put through a lens of effects or manipulated to make sophisticated lyrics, it’s just told like it is.

This kind of music gave Douglas his drive in the days of his youth. “It became a religion to me, profound and meaningful. Music gave me a way to channel my feelings, whether I understood them or not. I always found an outlet for feelings I couldn’t resolve, figure out or handle by playing music. It was indispensable.” Rock music is a classic rite of passage that too often eventually gives way to the more polished mainstream once the turbulence of adolescence is over.

The Gary Douglas Band is now sharing the unique energy and experience that his music has to offer. “When the place is packed and rocking, that’s it. That’s all I want,” Douglas says, describing his lack of interest in being a superstar.

Gary Douglas is a fighter, always has been. He gives voice to those often left unheard whether it be defending the “little guy” against corporations in court or through his hard-hitting lyrics. He won a long hard fought legal battle against chemical giant DuPont, putting an end to their poisoning of the Ohio River and giving redemption to the people who lived in the area and drank the contaminated water with many of them getting cancer and dying. The Brooklyn-born singer-songwriter – who was inducted into the Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame earlier this year, joining such legal giants as Thurgood Marshall, Morris Dees, and William Kuntsler – has somehow found equal time to lead his Gary Douglas Band for more than four years, lighting it up night after night with blazing guitars, anthemic hooks, and a potent lyricism that rings out with its craft, confidence, and striking conviction.
