This week my husband and I took toddler girl to the aquarium. We went to the Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise.
Walking to the aquarium from the train station
Located at the tip of the Yokohama Bay, the aquarium has an amusement park feel to it. When walking up to the main entrance of the aquarium, you will see Pleasure Land (amusement rides) for children on one side and roller coaster for the older kids and adults. Along with the ride, there are a number of attractions, shopping, fast food eatery, snacks, and sit-down restaurants. You can enter and walk around the park itself with no admission fee, but you do have an admission fee for the aquariums and get admission pass for all the rides and attractions. We brought the one day ticket for the four aquariums and the pleasure land pass for 4,900yen per adult. You can easily spend the day there; we were there for about five hours. It is easily accessed by train or car. However, since it only about a half hour train ride from my home, we took the train, plus the view is beautiful. By train you can the Seaside Line to the Hakkeijima Station. By car there is a parking lot; parking is 1,000 yen per day. Please check the website for the opening and closing times.
