Randall Lee Richards has a contemporary country sound, it’s a whole lotta country with bits of pop, techno, and rock mix. I’m listening to “A Heartbreak in the Making”, that was released earlier this month. It’s been playing on repeat for a while now. It’s one of those songs you make you want to sing along to the words.
As a blogger, it’s always great when good music hits my inbox for me to check out. This is one of those songs. “A Heartbreak in the Making” is a really good song. When the song starts you get the pop-rock feel, but when Randall Lee Richards’ style is his own. He’s not staying in the contemporary country or a country mold. He’s making sure that he creates his own mold that anyone who listens to his music will put it on repeat. He has a similar sound to some of the new artist that have come on the scene, but his sound is all his own.
The song is a super cool twist on “boy meets girl in a bar”. The mood is upbeat with a great story and soaring chorus. The “Hot Mix” is where country meets cool. A fusion of country, techno, pop and rock overtones. Very much in the style of the Spotify “New Boots” playlist. – Randall Lee Richards
Randall Lee Richards has a distinct and powerful voice that brings this song alive. And, the guitar playing is hot enough to melt your earbuds!
About Randall Lee Richards
With music running through his veins, the Birmingham, Al. native recalls the exact moment when he realized music would be his life’s work, “I was five years old. I remember seeing a singing star on TV. The way he sang and moved with the music and the crowd’s reaction made me think that’s what I’m going to do!”
Randall Lee Richards passion for music was undeniable, his parents encouraged him to follow his dreams, buying him a drum set and guitar when he was ten years old. Just a couple of years later, Richards’ had written enough songs to record a demo. With his demo in hand, the 12-year old Richards convinced his older brother to drive him to Nashville in the hopes of making his dream come true. The two walked up and down Nashville’s famed Music Row knocking on doors until the young artist scored his first record deal – it took all of one day. In what could only be considered lightning speed in Nashville, Richards recorded his first single within a month of signing his deal. As an artist, Richards has performed on some of the world’s most acclaimed stages including The Roxy and The Troubadour, yet his greatest success has come as a songwriter, penning tracks for artists in Country and Pop. As an EMI/Sony Music writer, his songs have been recorded over one hundred times around the world selling millions of copies. Richards even had the distinct honor of being mentored by some of music’s most legendary icons, including Neil Diamond, Charlie Daniels, and Elton John. “I am humbled by all those who have taken the time to work with me, inspire me and encourage me along my journey,” says Richards. Starting in mid-2017, his single “A Paradise Life” reached the 60’s on Billboard Indicator, 40’s on Music Row, was played on over 2,000 radio stations around the world. In Australia, he’s had three singles played heavily on the KIX and Flow radio networks. And, he was one of only 22 artists in 2017 to be inducted into the CMA.
Today, Richards is moving at warp speed with his music, writing a least one song every week. “These are really killer songs which are surprising me. I am in my most creative space right now, more than any other time in my life,” explains Richards. In the last 12 months, he’s written and recorded a total of 15 new songs in Nashville with some of the top Nashville studio musicians. He is going to be releasing one new single each month with both a radio mix and a “Hot” fusion mix for Spotify and other streaming services. “These days everyone absorbs music very quickly, so we’re thinking it’s better to give them something new all the time instead of releasing an LP which might stick around for a couple of years”. “My hope with my music is to always touch people’s emotions with my stories, and give them melodies that they can’t get out of their heads,” he explains. Randall Lee Richards is eager to see what the next chapter in his career holds, and expects to go a long way stating, “God has a destiny for me that I haven’t yet fulfilled.
