“Still Here” is a great introduction to what is to come on Summer on Main St. and really sets the tone of the album. Following with the bass beating on track is “Can’t Relate”. He’s telling you a story with each track song on the album.
Royal’s lyrics are calculated and beats are banging. The beat can definitely knock pictures off the wall. The beats on the album are not from a “beats by random at this email”. This is beats by someone who really cares about their craft and wants an artist to really be able to lay fire magic. That’s what you hear when you listen to “On Command”. You hear Royal putting his craft to work with ease on each song.
This Artist Spotlight isn’t complete if I don’t mention “Letter to Cecil” and “Letter to Perry”. These two songs are not just storytelling, they are real feelings and real life.
My favorite song on the Summer on Main St. album is “Occupy Cypher” and you can listen to it below. After you listen to it, let me know your thoughts in the comments at the end of this blog post. Overall, it’s an outstanding album and one you should definitely listen.
