DIYs to get Rid of Blocked Drains:
It’s not always necessary that you need to always seek professional help. If you take basic cleaning steps then the probability of clogged drains will slow down. Here we bring you some of the drain cleaning steps which you can do yourself.
So here it goes:
Tweezers – Tweezers are particularly very useful for the bathtub and bathroom drains. After removing the drain cover, you can use tweezers to pull out the hair from the drain. As mentioned above, hair is one of the common cause of clogged drains. Removing hair from the drain at regular interval will keep it clean and free from clogging.
Dishwashing Liquid – Blend dishwashing liquid with boiling water before pouring them down a blocked drain. All of the dishwashing liquids are meant to cut through the tough grease and then added boiling water would help to loosen the grease which is stuck on the sides of the clogged drains.
Using a combination of Baking Soda and Vinegar – To use this DIY remedy, you must pour a half a cup of baking soda and then a cup of vinegar down the drain and cover the lid of the drain with a glass. This is to be left overnight, or while you’re away. Just ensure no water is poured after you add baking soda and vinegar for at least 6-7 hours. In the morning (or after you get back home) pour hot water in the drain. This reaction of baking soda and vinegar will help you to break down the grease buildup and the other clogging elements, whereas the boiling water will help to wash away the broken up clog down the drain.
Vinegar Ice Cubes – Vinegar Ice Cubes are a great preventative measure in order to keep the drains clean before they get blocked. Freeze white vinegar in the ice cube trays and then crushing a few of the ice cubes in the garbage disposal once every week will help to keep the blocked drains at bay. The ice would help to sharpen the disposal drains and the vinegar would get in the nooks and crannies of the garbage disposal as well as the drain in order to break down any form of buildup. Usage of screens, in standard cuts, in order to cover the drains in bathtubs and sinks are another great preventative measure.
Salt and Hot Water combination – Hot water is really a good choice while attempting to flush out the drain. Boiling the salted water and then using it to clean out the clogged drains is an effective remedy. Hot water aids in loosening up the grease from the pipes in order to flush them out, leaving the pipes unobstructed and clean.
Plunger – There are different plungers for sinks and for bathtub drains. These plungers have the ability to get rid of the clogged drains of the sinks and the bathtubs. They can also help you to unclog your toilet! Thus it is a multi-purpose clogging device.

Very nice post! Food is something that people need to pay closer attention to as they are putting it down their drains. Especially foods that expand with water and things like fat a grease.
Agree about grease. It’s one item that should not be poured down the drain.
