EMBI | Artist Spotlight

EMBI recently released his EP Evolution, and is ready to share his talent with the world.

This EP is a mix of pop and soul, it’s on the line of pop but it’s also R&B with a sprinkle of rock. But the soul of EMBI’s voice is what makes Evolution soulfully-pop. It is showcasing his uniqueness as an artist and that he is a not cookie-cutter artist and that he’s thinking outside of the box.

My favorite song from Evolution is “Cocoa Eyes” it’s an instrumental song.  The snare drum and cymbal in the background helps to set the vibe for this song. With the guitar being the main attraction as EMBI showcases his guitar skills on this song.

“Fantasy World” is the track from the EP that gives you that sprinkle of rock. You can hear EMBI channeling his inner rock influences. The Evolution EP is one that you should listen to. It’s one that you don’t want to label as pop, alternative, jazz, rock, or R&B it’s simply good music. Music for all to enjoy.

About EMBI

Michele Beneforti, in art known as EMBI, was born in Tuscany, Italy in 1991, and is a guitarist, singer, songwriter who is currently based in Los Angeles, USA. His musical influences are a mix of soul, pop, and electronic. His idols being Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Robert Glasper, and Jimi Hendrix.

At 18, he formed his band Hot Love Trio and won 2 competitions that allowed him to open concerts for artists such as Ray Manzarek & Robby Krieger of The Doors and for Robben Ford, on stages of national and international festivals.

In 2013, he won a scholarship at the Umbria Jazz Clinics to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he earned a degree in performance in 2017.

With his solo project, EMBI has been active in the live scene of Boston for 4 years, performing in clubs and festivals in Massachusetts. At the Salem Jazz Festival, he presented a show composed entirely of original music.

In 2017, Berklee College of Music produced a live version for his single “Highway”, which debuted on their official YouTube channel.

As a guitarist, EMBI has earned great appreciation in the American scene. He has played with the original all-female band of Beyonće and well-known gospel artists like Phil Thompson, Freda Battle, and Dorothy Norwood.

His debut EP Evolution was released on April 6, 2018, and it’s available on all streaming platforms.
