Now that we’ve officially had the shortest day of the year, it can only go up from here and although it may not seem like much is changing, the days are slowly starting to get a little longer as we move away from the dark and dreary winter months towards the milder spring and summer months which many people will definitely be looking forward to.

When it comes to preparing your home for the seasons changing, you may not have thought much about doing this before, but there are simple changes that can be made as the seasons change so we can enjoy them more – just like we make the place cozy and add warmer tones for the winter coming, we can make the same changes as the summer season approaches, and none of this really has to take a lot of time or cost a lot of money to get done.

So, in this post, we’re going to share with you some simple tips on how to get your home ready for the summer.

Declutter

In some cultures, such as the Dutch culture, the spring is the time of the year when everyone starts decluttering all of their old junk from the months gone by and bring a new energy to the home that’s more in keeping with the lightness of spring and summer. This is also a great excuse for them to redecorate, and stores in the Netherlands such as Ikea and other furniture and homeware chains report massive surges in people buying new furniture around the springtime to get ready for summer, so if you feel like you’ve got a lot of stuff lying around that you could be doing with getting rid of, then this could be the perfect excuse to do it and get yourself some new storage solutions for the home that could keep everything tidy and organized so that you have a fresh and bright energy in your home.

Accessorize

The great thing about accessories is that they’re so cheap and accessible to get, but they can also make a huge difference in your home, so if you want to treat yourself to a new color scheme, but aren’t quite ready to go ahead and start painting or carrying out major renovations, then this could be a great compromise that could actually make a big change. Now that you’re getting rid of all your Christmas and winter decorations, then bringing in some new and bright accessories could be just what you need.

Carry out repairs

If there are any repairs – no matter how big or small, then now is the time to consider getting them done. You may have noticed that your air conditioning isn’t working as it’s supposed to, and although you didn’t really need it during the winter, as the summer approaches, you definitely will, so it’s a good idea to contact a company offering a 24 hour air conditioning service to come in make sure it’s taken care of.
