Today is the start of Golden Week here in Japan. Looking at the weather, it will be raining the rest of the week. I did not have much plan for the holiday here in Japan. The trains will be very crowded and many places, especially sightseeing spots will be busier than normal.
Golden Week is from April 29th to May 5th. The holiday’s that occur during Golden Week are:
- April 29 – Showa Day (Showa no hi)
- May 3 – Constitution Memorial Day (Kenpo kinenbi)
- May 4 – Greenery Day (Midori no hi)
- May 5 – Children’s Day also known as Boys’ Day (Kodomo no hi)
Do you have anything special you do during Golden Week or do you stay home and hide out from the crowds?

How neat – that would be a lot of fun to celebrate all week. Praying the weather gets better for you!
I’d love to visit Japan some day. We’ve been having rainy weather here today too.
If I lived there I would enjoy all the fun.Bring an umbrella if you go out.
