It seems like forever since I have post about traveling. Being no to stranger to Hyatt hotels, as we have stayed there all over the place, with the Hyatt in Guam being a favorite. I am happy to share about the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead. For the princesses sixth birthday we headed to Atlanta, so that we could take her to LEGOland Discovery Center. A couple months ago, when we were in the Buckhead area of Atlanta we stayed at Hyatt Place and knew for this stay Grand Hyatt would offer more of the things we like.
We arrived at the hotel on a Thursday afternoon. Check-in was easy, but there was only one receptionist working the reception desk when B went to check-in. So there was a little bit of wait. Once checked-in we headed up to our room. We were on the 21st floor and had a beautiful view of the Atlanta skyline. We settled in a bit and than got ourselves together to have dinner. For dinner we went to a pizza place right behind the hotel. I’ll share about that in another post.
Once we arrived back from dinner, we noticed the phone blinking that there was a voice message. I checked message and it was from the hotel (restaurant) saying there was something complimentary that would like to bring up to the room. Called the extension back and to the lady know we received the message and that it was ok to bring whatever it was up.
Well, what a surprise it was, wine and chocolate covered strawberries. Wow! I know when calling to reserve the room, I mentioned about being a blogger. It was nice to see get this wonderful perk. The princess ate all the strawberries, except for the one I was able to grab when she wasn’t looking. I will say the hotel did make a blogger feel special; Thank you Grand Hyatt Atlanta. It was a great way to kick off the stay. It was nice to retreat back to the room and relax before exploring around the hotel later that evening.
After taking a moment of relaxing, the princess wanted explore and look for the Japanese garden. After living in Japan for four years, we try to find little things that remind us of Japan. We head to the elevator to go in search of the garden. The Japanese garden is located on the third level. You can also find the pool on this level as well. The garden is small, but it did remind us of the many temples and shrines we have visited. The princess felt at home, she could have played in the garden all evening. We hung out in the garden and the patio area for a while before heading back to the room to get ready for bed.
The princess knew we were going to the LEGOland Discovery Center, but she was only familiar with what she had seen on YouTube, which was LEGOland in Califorina. So, we did a search on YouTube for the LEGOland Discovery Center Atlanta so that she could check it out before bed. She was so excited; she could hardly get to sleep.
In the morning, we ate breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant Cassis. For breakfast you can enjoy something from the a la carte menu or the grand buffet. We ate the grand buffet and the princess ate for free. The buffet had all many items to choose from, including many of the healthy options I enjoy. My favorite, the grits!! Yes, the grits. They were cooked perfectly! I ate two bowls. The price for the grand buffet was $19 for adults. After breakfast, we went back to the room to get our things so that we could go to LEGOland, which was only about 5-10 minutes away from the Grand Hyatt Atlanta.
We spent most of the day at LEGOland and the Phipps Plaza mall it is located in. Once we arrived back at the hotel, we took a moment to relax before getting ready to head to dinner. The princess wanted to go to Benihana’s for her birthday she loves to watch the cooking at the table. B took the princess down to the lobby and I stayed in the room, to get all her gifts out and ready for her when we returned from dinner. I will say this kid is awesome. Not once did she ask all day about any gifts, so I knew she would be so surprise to see gifts when she got back to the room.
We return from dinner and let the princess walk into the room first she is so excited when she sees all her gifts that she is jumping up and down in excitement. She is ready to rip open everything. After she opens everything, she is playing with a couple of the toys and just having a grand time enjoying her birthday. She decides though, she would like to go home a day early so that should get her toys home and set them up in her room to play. So, we checkout the next morning to head home. Of course grabbing some Starbucks coffee there in the hotel before getting on the road.
Would we stay at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead again? Yes! The princess said her favorite thing about the hotel were the chocolate covered strawberries. My favorite thing about the hotel was the Japanese garden.

I think Atlanta would be a great place to take a family trip to. I will have to remember this hotel.
The service at the hotel was great! I will stay at this location again when visiting Atlanta.
Wow, that looks like a beautiful place to visit!! Man, now I need a vacation! 🙂
That is so cool that the garden is on the 3rd level. Looks like it is outside
It is outside. I should have taken a picture of it from the ground level, looking up. It’s almost like it’s on the roof of the 2nd level/waterfall. But it’s not a roof, kind of hard to explain. I’ll look through my pictures again, see if I have any looking up toward the garden.
Sounds like a fun time, we want to visit LEGOLAND Discovery Center soon. I’ll have to try to stay at this hotel, that’s awesome they gave you strawberries and wine!
Our next stop will be LEGOLand! That has been on my daughter list of places to visit for a while now. Now that Florida has one, it is way closer than California. So that may be our next adventure, maybe in the Spring. Yes, it was a wonderful surprise to the get the strawberries and wine.
How nice that they sent you chocolates! The garden area looks super cute and I had no idea there was a LegoLand in Atlanta so I’m glad I read your post.
What a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday. I don’t think we’ll make it to Atlanta anytime in the near future, but duly noted about the Hyatt in Guam. Guam is on our “in the near future” bucket list. 🙂
The Japanese garden is such a cool touch! I’m headed to Atlanta in a few months and will definitely consider checking out this property!
I would love to come home to chocolate and wine. This looks like a beautiful place to visit, and so luxurious.
