Twister, the first album from I, Useless will be releasing this month. I, Useless has a unique voice – childlike.

My favorites from the Twister album are: “Dancing Girl”, “Hikers”, and “Spleen”. The beats to all the songs are great. Many of them have a piano in them, which is my favorite.

“Hikers” is a really good song. Out of the favorites, it’s at the top of that list. It doesn’t have a lot of singing, except in the first half, but the music is calming.  I can’t explain “Spleen”… it’s one of those songs you just have to hear the song to feel the vibe it’s giving. It’s like the music is telling a story, but without words.

About I, Useless

“Don’t worry, everything’s gonna be ok”. Whether it’s the last scrawled words left on a post-it by your best friend under palliative care, or the last text messages you will receive from your parents on their dying bed, “Don’t worry, everything’s gonna be ok” means everything except that things will be ok. For I, Useless, it means “Goodbye, this time it’s over”. That’s what he finally understood after the third time. Hence the name “I, Useless”.

After mourning periods, denial, there is still one thing left. The memory of those who have passed away. And when the only thing left to you is memories, you have nothing to lose. Which is good, at least musically speaking. About autotuned trends, urban rhythms, crazy nights or drugs? I, Useless could not care less about it. He already went through all this in his former life. Today this pop UFO flies away without looking back. While high above, he might sometimes come across Tom McRae or even plot with Nicke Drake. If he sings with a child’s voice, it is because he whispers his words to angels, and if his songs sometimes bring tears to your eyes, it is because they were composed with.

More than just a careful craftsman and multi-instrumentalist, I, Useless is an exceptional songwriter, a genuine storyteller who directly speaks to what remains beautiful and pure in each of us. Twister, his first album, is an ode to the missing people and also a wonderful tribute to life.

I, Useless is from France. His influences include JJ72, Iko, Death Vessels, Sigur Rós, and Múm. Twister will be released September 28, 2018.
