Coming through the speakers for this Artist Spotlight is M.Gardner’s “Get It Girl” off his album Divergent. This is a dance track, workout track, just good vibes track. I’ve already listened to it 3 times back to back. When a song is good, you have to hit replay. Plus, I like to have good uptempo music going when I work and “Get It Girl”, is that type of music.
Even if you are not a fan of EDM, this track will for sure have you moving! I’m not just talking about tapping your foot or bobbing your head, it will have you wanting to get up and dance around the room. This song will be in my workout playlist, with lyrics like “Get it, girl, move it girl” It’s screaming to keep going and do another 10 minutes on the stationary bike or do a few more squats.
The whole Divergent album is good, so don’t just limit yourself to the “Get It Girl”. Divergent is a banging! You can listen to the audio video to “Get It Girl” below.

About M.Gardner
Michael Gardner Jr. (M.Gardner) was born and raised in Detroit, MI, where there is no shortage of musical talent and influences. Music has always been a huge part of his life since his younger years being awaken to the sounds of Michael Jackson, Prince, The Jackson 5, The Temptations, and several other Motown artists every Saturday morning while his mother cleaned the house. His musical tastes continued to be diversified with classical music training during his 12+ years performing in his school/church concert bands and orchestras. Although he listened to Hip-Hop and R&B music, the genres had very little influence on his musical tastes because of his upbringing and he had no idea of the concept of being a music producer. This would all change with the purchase of Timbaland & Magoo “Welcome To Our World”. Enamored with the sound and creativity of Timbaland’s productions, he set out to mimic Timbaland’s style and sound while simultaneously creating a signature sound of his own based on his musical influences, and creativity while growing up. He spent years honing his craft making beat tapes and recording songs with his friends, gaining knowledge of the industry during his years working at Guitar Center, and producing songs for local artists as one half of MajorKeys Productions based in Ypsilanti, MI.
M.Gardner likes to describe his style of music production as “cooking”. “I view making music as if I were cooking a meal. For example, the basic ingredients of spaghetti are tomato sauce, meatballs, and noodles seasoned with salt, pepper, onion, and garlic. That’s the basic recipe. In order for your meal to stand out from everyone else’s, you have to be willing to experiment and introduce different elements that on paper doesn’t sound like a good fit, but when blended together it creates something new. That’s what I try to do when I make music. I like to experiment by blending or changing genres and elements to create a sound that’s unique to me, but to a degree that all my stuff doesn’t sound the same and is diverse.”
