While the process of pregnancy and childbirth is one of the most profound things that a woman can go through and, indeed, your comfort throughout that pregnancy should always take priority, there are a lot of women who notice changes in their body long after they have given birth to their baby. These are natural changes, and a lot of women learn to live with them happily and comfortably. If that’s not the case for you, however, then you can start to feel affected, and your confidence can begin to erode. The tips below can help the women who want to stop those feelings.

Restoring your flexibility

First of all, let’s dispel the notion that all of the effects on your body are purely aesthetic. While there’s no doubt that the change in how you look can be a major contributing factor to changes in your self-confidence, there going to be real differences in how you feel, as well. For instance, a lot of women find that they become less flexible during pregnancy because, of course, it’s not as easy to move when you’re carrying all of that extra weight. To that end, you might want to take a look at post-patrum yoga courses, which can help you address the specific ways that you feel like you have lost your mobility and flexibility during those nine months, and the time spent recovering from them.

Managing your back pain

You might think that once you lose some of that weight (by giving birth to it) the lack of that extra pressure on your back would suddenly make it feel a lot better. While it might be true that you’re not exacerbating it as much anymore, a lot of women experience ongoing back pain long after pregnancy, which can be made more troublesome by having to carry a baby so often, as well as things like increased weight from your breasts. The above mentioned yoga can help, in part, but strength training for your back, massage therapy, and even breast reduction treatments can all help to alleviate the stresses causing that pain in the first place.

Rejuvenating your figure

The body is going to be largely changed after pregnancy. After all, for most women, the belly expands significantly, which can have lasting effects, such as larger breasts that sag more, excess skin, and more fat content on the body, in general. Some of these changes can be mitigated by a healthy lifestyle, but some areas are less easy to change by yourself, so, it may be worth considering a post pregnancy combination of surgeries. These surgeries, traditionally called the mommy makeover, aim to restore your body to its pre-pregnancy state as best as possible, but as with all surgery, you need a consultation first to see what kind of results you can expect in your specific case. Every woman is affected differently by pregnancy, after all.

Battling stretch marks

When you suddenly gain a lot of weight, as most do during pregnancy, then the skin can experience some stress while it is expanding rapidly. This can leave scarring that we typically call stretch marks. Some women learn to love their stretch marks but, if that’s not likely for you, then there are a wide range of treatments that are available. Massaging the affected area with healing oils can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks as the skin recovers, and there are plenty of specialized scar control creams and lotions that can be applied directly to the area.

Matters of the bathroom

You shouldn’t feel embarrassed to talk to your doctor about issues of incontinence after you have had your child. Some will even bring it up themselves when checking in with you. Plenty of women have some trouble controlling their bladder, which can largely be attributed to the weakening of the pelvic muscles. There are exercises that you can do to work out your pelvic floor, which can help you regain that control that you might feel like you’re missing. However, in the mean time, you should feel comfortable with getting some discreet adult diapers to simply help you catch any bladder leakage so that it doesn’t become an issue for you in daily life.

The most important thing, after your health, is that you are happy. If you find you don’t need any help to do that, that’s wonderful. Otherwise, don’t be afraid to look for options that can help you restore your rightful levels of confidence.
