So today I’m listening to the soothing sounds of Zita-Barbara. Not only is she is a singer and songwriter, she is an artist –  painting, writing, and fashion design.

Her song “Remember When” is beautiful. Her voice and the video that goes with the song brings you to a place of zen. It’s a song about reminiscing, remembering when – about being in love.

The chorus repeats a few times, which really makes this song zen-like. Zita-Barbara’s voice is like no other very unique. It’s opera like, in the way she sings she tells a story. It’s one of those songs that you have to listen to on repeat. It’s good and each time you listen to “Remember When” it’s like listening to a new song each time.

As the lyrics in the song say “Don’t walk away”, you don’t want to walk away from listening to Zita-Barbara’s music. Make sure to check out her fashion collection as well. You can find out more about not only her music but her fashion in the social media links below.

About Zita-Barbara

Zita-Barbara is a singer-songwriter, fashion designer, author, and painter has a voice that is described to sound angelic and a crossbreed between Enya, Sarah McLaughlin, Celine Dion with the slight rock-Irish sound of Dolores O’Riordan from “The Cranberries.” Most would say her music is like Enya attempted pop or pop-rock.

She chooses to write on subjects that pertain to her life struggles. The singer describes her musical journey as a “twisted” one on her Reverbnation page. Explaining that she was attempting a double business major when fate stepped in the way of wanting to pursue a traditional route.

Her exotic name Zita-Barbara was given to her by mistake. Following an old Spanish-Catholic tradition her mother was given the name of the Saint of the Saint’s Day she was born on, “Zita.” Then, her mother was named the intended name for her, “Barbara.” When Zita-Barbara was born, it was her father who mistakenly wrote her mother’s name under the child’s name. The unusual name was something she hid in her youth making everyone, including teachers, call her by her nick-name “Barbie.” For music, she drops the “e” at the end so Mattel’s Barbie won’t be an issue. The choice to go by Zita-Barbara for music came after an awkward number exchange with a large crush. When it went south she decided to write music using the sentiments within her as material and was afraid he would be able to discover the work under the nick-name he knew her by. While Zita-Barbara is nowhere near as easy to remember as Barbi, the music is.

She started climbing to a number one spot as a singer-songwriter on Reverbnation, which has led to a feature in San Antonio Monthly Magazine. The recognition caught the eye of an award-winning producer with a radio station in California where she is working to produce her own radio show and new music. She was invited to be the opera singer for Monica Navarro’s 35 year celebration party and has been invited by the Emmy winner to interview about her role as the opening fashion design of International Fashion Week (where the plans are to have the models walk down the runway to her music from the current album she is working on.)
