I want to share a wonderful book with you. STRONG and KIND: And Other Important Character Traits Your Child Needs to Succeed by Korie Robertson with Chrys Howard. With a few stories and wisdom from Willie Robertson. You may know this family; from their hit TV show Duck Dynasty.
I have watched the show many times and seen the family values the family has. This book STRONG and KIND tells you more about how respect, morals, and good character traits are need in this world we are living in. The book starts off with a question. What are two important character traits that you want to see in your children? For Kori Robertson, those two traits are STRONG and KIND. This book is encouraging and motivating.

This book is relatable and an easy read. It is a mother, her mother, and her husband sharing how stories about how it is important for people to want to teach their kids to show respect to others, have good character traits that will help to make their community, heck, even the world a better place. This is not the cookie-cutter parenting book, but some self-help guru or parenting know-it-all. It is a book by a mother, just like you and I. She doesn’t try to push a right way of parenting, she is simply sharing how she and her family parent. What they expect of their children and those around them.
The book is written in three parts: The Importance of Good Character, Identifying the Character Traits You Want to See in Your Children, and How to Parent Kids of Character. She talks about different character traits; strong, kind, self-controlled, honest, compassionate, patient, joyful, loyal, and humble. I know I want my daughter to continue to grow up to the kind, strong, and loyal person she is now as a child. Kori Robertson picked two character traits, but I find it hard to pick just two. But to answer her question, the two important character traits I want to see in my child is strong and joyful. Of course I like to see some of all the character traits displayed in my daughter at some point in time.
