Last week, I finally was able to take toddler girl to see The Frozen Woolly Mammoth “Yuka”. We saw advertisements for Yuka-Chan on the train and near Landmark Plaza in Yokohama. She was very excited to go on this summer fun learning adventure. The exhibit runs from July 13 to August 16, 2013 at the Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition Hall A (Yokohama Minato Mirai, Nishi-ku). Pacifico Yokohama is about a 3 minute walk from Minato Mirai line, Minato Mirai Station. General admission (adults) 2,200 yen and elementary and junior high school students 1,200 yen. I used a coupon from the website for 200 yen off at the ticket booth, only having to pay 2,000 yen and toddler girl was free.
The first part of the exhibit had many skeletons of other elephants and mammoths on display, which you could take photos of. Walking along pass the skeletons, you can touch bones, tusk, and hair of the mammoth.
Yuka-Chan was in a case and no pictures were allowed of her. However, I did get a postcard that shows her. There were about 100 rare exhibits, one being a bone, horn, and animal skin house. It was a great learning experience and glad that we went. The pictures I of the skeletons, will be a great learning tool for homeschooling.
