Running a business can take its toll on us, and it can be very easy for us to go inwards and self-preserve, but the problem in doing this is that we’re not looking after our employees in turn. Our employees are the people that will support us all the way through the hard work. We have to remember that in business, well-being, and in life, gratitude is the most important thing. It makes our employees feel valued, we feel better for giving it, and this all works together to create a culture that is pushing in the right direction. How can we express our gratitude to employees?

Throwing Gatherings

Rather than just having a quick 10-minute conflab around the employee who is celebrating a birthday, regular gatherings, whether it’s Friday night meetups or parties in the office during holiday seasons, can help bring everyone closer together and you can show them how much you appreciate their efforts. There are many Easter celebration ideas for work as well as Christmas and many other holidays. Celebrations like Chinese New Year and Eid are perfect opportunities to show your gratitude and respect to employees who may feel in the minority. Everybody is equal, and it is critical to ensure that everybody understands that they are pulling together. Gatherings are an amazing way to bring people onto the same page.

Positive Feedback

Regular employee reviews are essential, but feedback treads a very delicate tightrope because if an employee feels like they are being picked apart during their employee review, they’re not going to feel like they are doing their job properly, and will slowly lose motivation. You need to have a glass-half-full approach when it comes to showing your employees how they’ve specifically contributed to the business. You are in charge of the bigger picture, not your employees. Therefore, they need to see what they have done that has made a massive impact on the business.

Prioritize Their Well-Being

Well-being is more important now than ever. A healthy employee is a happy one, and if you start to invest in how your team feels, this is going to ensure everybody pushes together in the right direction. There are so many ways you can do this. For example, you could bring in mental health initiatives like talk therapy, yoga, mindfulness, and much more. You could also introduce fitness programs, health coaching, nutritious foods, and everything can work together to ensure your employees feel better about themselves so they won’t just do good work, but they will be better and well-rounded people as a result. We can easily make the assumption that they are there to do work, and that is what counts, but we don’t know what goes on outside of their working lives, one will always impact the other.

You need to show your appreciation. Gratitude is a practice that everybody should undertake in private, but as business leaders, you should start to show how you value your employees and give them the things that they truly deserve. Doing this will benefit everybody, not just the business.
