The Ascot Gold Cup is a part of the Royal Ascot racing carnival that takes place during the 3rd week in June each year. Some 300,000 people flock to the beautiful and picturesque Royal Ascot Racecourse in stunning Berkshire. The event is even attended by members of the Royal Family, including Queen Elizabeth II herself.

The Ascot Gold Cup is one of the main events at the meet and one of the most prestigious horse races in England. Horses battle it out over a grueling distance of 3700 meters, making it one of the longest flat track turf events in the world.

The Kentucky Derby – United States
The Kentucky Derby, held once a year at Churchill Downs Racecourse on the first Saturday in May, is the most illustrious horse race on the American racing calendar.
The race attracts the elite, the best of the best, both in racehorses and jockeys.
Run over a distance of approximately 2000 meters, it has produced some of the country’s greatest ever champions, including world-renowned Secretariat, which a blockbuster Hollywood movie was inspired by.

The Melbourne Cup – Australia
If you are planning a visit to Australia late in the year, see if you can make it to Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne for the running of Melbourne Cup 2019. It takes place on the first Tuesday in November and is literally a race that stops a nation.
24 of the world’s best racehorses fight it out over a distance of 3200 meters for the chance to take home the coveted crown. The race attracts contestants and visitors from all around the globe and is a time of high fashion and loads of parties. Not just in Melbourne or trackside, but all around the country.
It’s a beautiful time of the year to visit Melbourne, and with Victoria’s capital being Australia’s cultural hub, apart from witnessing the running of the Melbourne Cup, there is just so much to see and do in this great city.
Dubai World Cup – United Arab Emirates
The Dubai World Cup is a relatively new horse race that only started up in 1996. It’s also one of the richest horse races in the world.
Because of the heat in the Middle East, the race takes place under lights at night time in late March, which certainly adds an extra special atmosphere to the event. Run over a distance of 2000 meters, some of the world’s very best thoroughbred racecourses are on show, vying to take home the crown.
Apart from horse racing in Dubai, there is just so much to do in this ever-evolving. Because so many people from all around the world come to Dubai for work and business, it’s become one of the world’s most multicultural cities.
