Most of us want to have good skin. After all, it is our largest organ and the most visible part of our body, so when it looks good, we feel good too.

Unfortunately, many of us are doing many things that could be actively harming our skin and making it look less than the flawless, youthful thing we want it to be.

That being the case, let’s take a look at a few of the ways you could be hurting your skin without realizing it, so you can hopefully give up those bad habits and have your best skin yet.

1. Touching your face often

Today, it has never been easier to find effective acne treatment, but I think you will agree it would be better if you did not need any acne treatment, to begin with Well, one really common habit that causes acne to appear is touching your face a lot. When you do this, you bring bacteria into contact with your face and that can cause zits to form. Don’t touch your face if you can help it, and if you really need to, wash your hands first.

2. Washing with very hot water

Hot water might feel really good on your skin, but once your shower is over, you will start to notice that your skin feels drier and tighter than it usually does. This is because really hot water strips essential oils from your skin, which helps to keep it plump and moist.

If you really must have a hot shower, then immediately after you step out of the cubicle, apply a thick layer of moisturizer before doing anything else, to help lock some moisture back in.

3. Sleeping in your makeup

If you regularly wake up in your makeup, then you need to change your habits so that you remove every single particle of foundation before you go to sleep at night, A failure to do so could mean that your pores become very clogged and when that happens, you are more likely to suffer from acne, dry skin, and blackheads. Yes, it might take a few more minutes to remove makeup before bed, but your skin will really thank you for it.

4. Not wearing sunscreen

If you do not wear sunscreen, or at the very least SPF-containing moisturizer, each day when you are going outside, then your skin will start to look older earlier in life. You might get wrinkles and age spots which give you an aged appearance, and more importantly, you could end up getting skin cancer. Sunscreen really is not optional, not if you care about your skin and your health, anyway.

5. Eating lots so junk food

If you eat a lot of sugar and grease and not a lot of fruits and vegetables, you will not be feeling your skin all of the nutrients it needs to grow, repair, and glow. It really is that simple.

If you can avoid these skin-hurting bad habits, then you can find your outer glow and start cultivating radiant, clear, youthful skin. So, what are you waiting for?
