Every once in a while, we get tired of our home decor and we wish to do something about it. Then we start browsing various home decor magazines, and eventually lose ourselves in all the different “hip”, “trendy” and “stylish” ideas for the season. Finally, we give up on redecorating our homes discouraged by the plethora of things we are told we need to change.
However, if you like traveling (and who doesn’t?) you can choose to embellish your home with various Oriental decor staple pieces and create a truly exotic ambiance that will breathe style, sophistication, and luxury. Let’s take a look at some neat tricks.
Option 1 – Arabic design
The Arabic style is probably one of the oldest styles in the world of design full of intricate repeating patterns and lively vibrant colors. To create a true Arabic interior, you’d need to spend a hefty sum. However, the Arabic vibe can be incorporated into every room of your home by using various ornaments, such as hanging Arabian lamps and sheer curtains in lively colors. Luckily, today, you can easily find a lot of modern and affordable pieces that are made to mimic this amazing style, which will allow you to put together an amazing interior without having to spend a small fortune.
Option 2 – Chinese design
Another very popular option is the Chinese design. This design, although commonly perceived as similar to the Japanese design, is very elaborate and versatile. Usually, the first thing that comes to mind when talking about the Chinese design is painted glazed pottery and ceramics. However, a true Chinese decor is much more elaborate than this as it usually focuses on telling a certain story (inspired either by historical events or folklore). Nowadays, there are a plethora of beautiful Chinese homewares that can easily be found online, so finding a perfect match should be fairly easy. The only thing you should try to avoid – if you decide to go with this look – is making the room look tacky. Therefore, sticking to the traditional pieces is probably the best way to go.
Option 3 – Turkish design
The Turkish design is characterized by rich, lavish materials and elaborate colorful patterns. When we think about Turkey, we can’t help but remember their beautiful tiled mosques and colorful markets. So, to translate this beautiful look into your interior, think about mosaic tiled art pieces and traditional Turkish fabrics. These can be introduced through, for example, a mosaic coffee table and a set of matching floor rugs and throw pillows made of Kilim. Since Kilim is traditionally hand painted, it usually comes in natural and earthy tones.
Option 4 – Japanese design
Unlike the elaborate colorful Chinese design, the Japanese design focuses more on minimalism and simplicity. Clean lines and a monochromatic color palette are the staples of the Japanese decor. Thanks to this, a home decorated in this style will ooze sophistication and luxury. If you want to introduce the Japanese style in your home, go for woodblock wall art pieces, add a small bamboo for a touch of nature and don’t forget to find yourself a cute Maneki-neko to fill your home with good vibes and positive energy.
Option 5 – Egyptian decor
Since Egypt is a country with such a rich and colorful history, it’s no surprise that the Egyptian decor style is still so very popular. Golden details are very popular in the Egyptian-inspired decor, and the best way to incorporate them into your home is by contrasting them with colors such as red, black or the Egyptian blue. Also, think in terms of papyrus wall art pieces, or even wallpaper, and clean geometric shapes, preferably pyramid. Finally, try to find small statues of your favorite Egyptian gods to tie the entire room together. And, of course, since cats were basically considered deity in ancient Egypt, think about getting yourself a four-legged fur companion as well.
So, the next time you get the urge to do something about your home’s design, think about these styles. Not only are they extremely fun to implement, but they also leave a lot of room for creativity and future improvements.
