Today’s artist spotlight is Conscious, a 24-year-old emcee hailing from Norwich, Connecticut. I don’t think I’ve heard a beat this good in a long, long time.  His song Grey Matter, is fresh, it’s bringing a new twist to Hip Hop.  Something that is needed these days.

The song I am going to share with you is Grey Matter. The producer of this great did a wonderful job.  Grey Matter is jazz meets hip-hop and in a good way. I hit play on Grey Matter; I knew I would love it from start to finish. It starts off with piano, going into a nice snare drum, with a hint of the high hat.  Don’t let the piano fool you, this song hits hard.  Yes, the beat is hot! But it’s about the lyrics.  My girl give birth to my first-born child, can truly say never been this proud. His hair is light, but his cheeks are brown. My girl said he has my smile. It’s crazy this baby got the traits of my old lady. Resurrected what was lost.

Like any good song, to make the listener listen from start to finish you have to keep them interested. And Conscious does that with this Grey Matter.  He keeps your attention with the lyrics; it’s real life, relatable. Conscious is not rapping and spitting bars to try and blend in with you hear daily on the radio, see on TV, he’s on his own movement to give you lyrics just like those who have influenced him.  He is an artist you want to keep your eye on. You want him playing in your headphones!

My favorite songs are Grey Matter and The Wind.  Go ahead on over to Conscious’ Soundcloud to check out some of his other tracks. Below you can find Grey Matter for your listening pleasure. And make sure to follow him and Hellhound Music Group on Twitter.
