We all have more natural beauty than we think. The things we don’t like about our bodies tend to be things other people celebrate us for! And while it’s good to accept that, it’s also OK to feel fragile about the way you look sometimes.

We all have those days where everything goes wrong, or we’ve received a comment that makes us feel terrible, and dealing with those feelings is part of combating your body issues in the long term.

Because of that, we’ve listed a few of the things to consider when you’re feeling insecure about your looks, and why it’s necessary to process the negative thoughts first.

Never Make a Rash Beauty Decision

If you’re feeling bad about your body after a long day, sleep on it. Never make a decision about your look when you’re tired and have a day’s worth of frustration to unload. You might end up hacking all your hair off or throwing out makeup you love and regretting it immediately!

You may also look into cosmetic surgery procedures if you’re feeling like this. However, understanding what really goes into something like a tummy tuck procedure is the first step to ensuring you’re taking your body image issues seriously. Do your research, take your time, talk to people about the way you’re thinking, and never just book yourself in!

Give Your Mind a Break From the Perfect Image

Social media is the worst for this. If you’ve been chucking images of models and photoshopped influencers into your mind for the best part of the day, close the app and find something else to do.

Changing your focus at a time like this goes a long way to ensuring you don’t make the problem any worse. Who cares what other people are pretending to look like? Not your problem, not your life! Give your mind a break from having to deal with the relentless noise of people you don’t know.

Show Yourself a Bit of Love

Sometimes known as ‘self-care’, giving yourself a touch of love can turn your negative thinking around in a moment. Giving yourself a massage, or dressing up in your favorite clothes, or getting in the bath and feeling the water, are amazing for dishing out a healthy bit of self-love.

If you’re feeling a low body image, or your confidence has been knocked, slowly build it back up again. Nothing has to change overnight, and you don’t have to feel right again straight away. You just need a peaceful moment to feel neutral about the way your body looks.

Challenge Unhealthy Body Talk

Even when it’s not coming from you, challenge it! If a friend puts themself down, tell them you don’t like the way they’re speaking and offer them a compliment. The less you’re around this kind of talk, the less you’re going to say it to yourself!

Remember, body issues can be combated when you process the fragility first. Confidence follows after!
