Everyone knows that kids love birthday parties. For them, it’s a big event that includes seeing all of their closest friends outside of a school or playground environment. It’s understandable that they would be excited about it. However, hanging around isn’t reason enough for a kid’s party. What’s a birthday without some fun games to play? If you’re strapped for ideas, here are some things kids are going crazy for.

1. Balloons galore

It’s no secret that kids love playing with balloons. After all, what’s not to love about them? They’re the easiest toys to set up and play with. All you have to do is pump them full of air or helium and you’re good to go. Let’s not forget, parents won’t exactly break the bank trying to buy a couple of rubber balloons, which makes them ideal to buy in bulk.

There are countless ways for kids to play with balloons. Considering the fact that they come in various shapes and sizes, they can let their imagination go wild. There is often various storytelling and roleplaying involved in the games, or they just kick the balloons around like footballs. If a balloon should accidentally pop, it might give them a bit of a fright, but they won’t hesitate to play with new ones right away.

2. Scavenging for fun

Kids are inquisitive and competitive little rascals. They like a challenge and giving them one is a surefire recipe for getting them excited for a party. Before the party starts, make sure that your invitation mentions that there will be a scavenger hunt. You can be sure that they’ll be teeming with excitement while on the way with their parents. It also allows their parents to pick some more appropriate clothing if the hunt involves outdoor areas.

Scavenger hunts aren’t all that difficult to set up, either. All you need is a bunch of items and some clever hiding spots. Get a creative with the wording as you like. As long as it keeps the kids occupied for a while, you can be sure that the scavenger hunt is going to be a smash hit.

3. Hopscotch

Jumping around is something kids are infamous for. They love physical activities that have a game element added to them. Hopscotch is the perfect activity for both indoor and outdoor parties. All you need is a bit of tape or chalk and you’re pretty much good to go.

Everyone is familiar with how the game is played. If you want to do the honors of making the hopscotch area yourself, you can find lots of diagrams online that show you how to do it.

4. Pin the tail on the donkey

This game has been a staple of birthday parties since birthday parties have been a thing. It’s a relatively straightforward game. As its name suggests, the kids are supposed to pin the tail on a picture of a donkey. However, letting kids run around with sharp objects might not be the best course of action, but you can be sure that there are lots of safer alternatives to a pointy metal tail.

Most modern iterations use magnets to prevent injury. The kid doing the pinning won’t mind, as long as the game remains fun and competitive.

5. Face painting

Face painting has become the go-to activity in today’s birthday parties. What’s not to like about the idea of becoming your favorite princess or superhero for the day? Kids love masks and giving them the opportunity to be whatever they want will certainly make their day.

It doesn’t harm their skin and the kids can go about their day partying without anyone having to worry about the paint rubbing off or irritating their skin. The best part is that there are lots of wonderful patterns and ideas that can be used. The artists that work with Creative Faces can make any kind of party into a magical experience for the kids.

6. Dancing

Everybody loves dancing, and that includes children. Music is the universal language that connects us all, even when we don’t have a full grasp of our maternal one. Kids might not be the best dancers, but they are most certainly the most enthusiastic ones you’ll ever see.

Put on some kid-friendly music on the speakers and let them run wild. They’ll come up with their own choreographies on the fly and have lots of fun. Kids probably haven’t yet developed a particular taste for specific genres, so you can count on party and pop music to keep everyone satisfied. The parents might get sick of it, but remember that the party isn’t catered toward them.

Organizing a fun birthday party for kids is easier than it looks. You don’t need a lot of funds or resources to make it extraordinary. All you need is a bit of creativity and some craftsmanship and you’re good to go.
