The snow is falling, the days are cold, and you are bound to barracks for the next few days due to heavy snow, and it’s winter break to top it all off.  What to do, how to keep the kids occupied, you may ask? Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered! This blog will assist you in making those days not being so dreadful and bringing some warmth into your home.

1) Have a movie day:

Pop some popcorn, stream a movie, and invite your friends over for a cozy night in the comfort of your own home. Better yet, make it a themed movie day by having everyone dress up as their favorite characters from the movie or, for added fun, have them act out scenes. Why not play charades, and test your knowledge of actors and movies.

2) Get creative:

Unleash your inner artist and go wild with arts and crafts.  Always wanted to unleash the artist in you, grab some paper and markers, build snowmen, play around with clay, or even decorate cookies.  Talking of clay, let the children build their favorite Disney character out of clay, making it something they can treasure, and make sure to put the day and date on as well.

3) Stay active:

This may be a daunting task for you, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy the snow and stay fit even during a snow day and, most of all, have fun at the same time. Bundle up and take a brisk walk outside, or try building an indoor obstacle course with items from around your home.

For something different, engage in some snow-themed activities like making a snowman, having a snowball fight, or going sledding.  You could also get active by playing tag in the snow, creating a scavenger hunt, or searching for unique animal tracks.  Whatever you choose to do on your snow days, staying active will help you make the most of it.

4) Prepare some warm food:

What’s better than a warm, delicious meal on a cold winter day? Take the time to make something special with the kids.  Bake cookies, make homemade hot chocolate, or whip up some yummy chili and serve it with freshly-baked cornbread. Not only is it a tasty treat, but you can use these activities as teaching moments for your children about cooking and baking.

This is also the perfect time to venture into grandma’s old recipes. You can cook up a special romantic dinner with your hubby, make that special roast, that veggie broth recipe that you love so much, and even try some new dishes.

Snow days can be a great opportunity to get creative with activities, stay active and make some delicious food.  With the right mindset, you can turn these long winter days into fun-filled moments of joy and warmth that will create lasting memories for years to come. Don’t let the snow stop you from having an amazing day.
