It’s Thursday!! That means it’s time to share some good music with you. I started writing this post about one song, but had another song playing. Well, lucky me I was only in the first paragraph, because I decided to write about the song that is playing. I have been sharing some PG-13 music, but let’s go back to when rap was called Gangsta Rap and remember a song from one of the greatest rappers: Tupac Shakur b.k.a. 2Pac with the song Hit’ Em Up (Dirty).
Hit Em’ Up, was released in 1996 and was a diss song, featuring the group Outlawz. In this diss song, 2Pac throws some lyrics at a few East Coast rappers. Of course those East Coast rappers, hit the studio and replied with diss in their own songs. There has been much controversy surrounding this song, as three months after it was release Tupac Shakur was murdered.
I remember this fairly well, as I was in high school when this song was released. There was rumor that Tupac was not really dead. People were spotting him all around for months to come. It was just a controversy in itself. But nonetheless, it’s a good song, even if it diss some of the rappers that I like. Take your headphones out and turn the volume up and play this joint loud!
